If you’ve been following this home improvement blog for any amount of time, you probably remember a series of posts from last year excitedly announcing the arrival of a new and revolutionary siding product. That product is Everlast Composite Siding, and now, having installed it on 15 homes around the Des Moines Metro area, I am pleased to report that we are even more excited today than we were when we first introduced the product to this area.
I can say without reservation that this is the best looking siding I have ever seen installed. I’ve personally stood and inspected each of these jobs, searching for visible seams from as close as 20 feet away. They are virtually impossible to see!
But what you can see is the incredibly realistic woodgrain pattern in each piece. I challenge you to compare this siding to Hardie Plank or any other premium siding that boasts a “realistic wood grain.” What you’ll see is that there is no comparison. The Cedar embossed woodgrain in the Everlast Siding is so convincing that I’ve watched homeowners hesitate to run their hands over it for fear of getting splinters! It really is that authentic.
It’s interesting to me to recall that I was first introduced to Everlast Siding as an alternative to fiber cement siding with the advantage of never needing to be painted. Today, I tend to characterisze polymer siding as a combination of the very best qualities of fiber cement and vinyl siding without any of the downside. Everlast siding is every bit as maintenance-free as vinyl without the artificial appearance or obvious seams. It has an even more realistic woodgrain texture than fiber cement siding, but it cannot rot the way cementitious siding can. Now, consider that even though it never needs to be painted, you do have the option of painting it if you choose to change the color of your exterior and wht you have truly is the best of all siding worlds.
Of course, it takes more than just a quality product to ensure a great siding installation. Workmanship is every bit as important. In other words, who installs your siding counts for just as much as which siding they install. And I think it’s fair to say that most siding crews just can’t, or won’t, deliver the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that the crews of Buresh Home Solutions do.
Admittedly, we’ve learned a lot about installing Everlast Siding since that very first job. We spent six weeks on that project, fussing over every last detail and making sure that the installation was nothing less than perfect. Compare that to a typical vinyl siding job which takes about a week and you get a sense of how we really sweated the small things on that job!
Fortunately, we’ve become a great deal more efficient at installing Everlast Siding since then. But a premium product like this still requires a bit more time and labor to properly install than other siding types. We take the time to account for every variance in the material so you’re siding is dead level with consistent reveals from top to bottom and side to side.
Yes, Everlast Siding costs a little more than other premium sidings, both because of the material costs and because of our knit-picky installation techniques. But in the end, you have what I believe to be the finest siding available today installed to the highest possible standards. And that’s a combination that will last a lifetime and pay dividends many times over.
